Move Over Gray, There’s a New Taupe in Town
We always enjoy following the predictions for color of the year and there are a few
authorities on the subject who start announcing their winners in the fall. For 2017,
Sherwin Williams has selected Poised Taupe as their trend setting shade, a marriage
between an earthy brown and a conservative gray. For years gray has been a staple
in interior decorating, and we still love it, but we are happy to see
something with a warmer tone to use for a rich, neutral backdrop.
Color experts take their cues from a variety of sources before making their choice
including fashion, the economic environment, and architecture. Poised Taupe is
quite a contrast from last year’s selection of Alabaster, a creamy white and Benjamin
Moore’s pick of Simply White, a crisp and clean white. It will remind you of a
beautiful weathered wood, which will create a perfect backdrop or compliment to
pastel, bright or jewel tones, making it an ideal neutral.
Here are a few photos that demonstrate Poised Taupe’s versatility in different
rooms and design aesthetics.
